Spring 2024
Website Rules:
We could also think of this as website GOALS.
These are five areas we identified as a class that make a good website great. These are the areas we'll continue to encourage one another on throughout our course.

Well-Organized
-
Clear purpose of the website (When you see it you know exactly what you're looking at)
-
Information should be up to date
-
Organized; easy to find information and links
Trustworthy
-
Easy to access without giving personal info; doesn't require an account
-
Scam protection/policies; security (SSL Certificate, HTTPS)
-
Social media links, mailing list optional
-
Price easily displayed for any shopping functions
-
integrity, trustworthiness, recognition/awards shared – could include a review section or comment section with fair moderation policies (Not all spam, but also not deleting negative responses)

Functional
-
Everything on the site should be functional, no broken links
-
Desktop and mobile compatible
-
Download speed/loads fast
-
Minimal pop-ups and ads, placement of the ads doesn’t distract from site functions
Accessible

Legible, accessible, easy to read
-
Translation in site or support of translate functions

Visual
-
Visually appealing and professional, clarity, colors and contrast; subtle background
-
good audio/video; content is high quality
-
The site’s look enhances the story of the brand itself (consider: users want to know more about your business or site and can connect to emotion there)
